Formulosophy is a small-batch skincare line created by Julia Poto, a certified cosmetic formulator based in Toronto. The brand was created for people who want skincare to feel clear, considered, and biologically respectful — not trend-driven, overwhelming, or unnecessarily complicated.
Rooted in thoughtful formulation and skin-barrier awareness, Formulosophy begins with Melt & Purify: a transformative balm cleanser for intentional, barrier-respectful cleansing.

Founded and formulated by Julia Poto, certified cosmetic formulator
I’m Julia Poto, the founder and formulator behind Formulosophy. As a certified cosmetic formulator with an Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science, I approach skincare as both a technical discipline and a deeply considered practice.
Every Formulosophy product is developed by me—from the initial concept and ingredient selection through formulation, testing, small-batch manufacturing and final quality checks. Working this closely with each formula allows me to make deliberate decisions at every stage rather than following trends or adding complexity for its own sake.
I created Formulosophy to offer skincare that feels purposeful, transparent and thoughtfully made—products designed with respect for the skin and for the people who use them.
Our formulation philosophy
Skin health over trends — We formulate with the skin's biology, function, and comfort in mind, not to chase every new ingredient cycle.
Purposeful synergy over quantity — Ingredients are selected to work together with distinct, complementary roles—without unnecessary duplication or overlap. Where appropriate, formulas are designed to mimic or complement elements of the skin barrier and support its structure, function and comfort.
Formulation integrity over speed — Each product is developed with intention, restraint, and respect for the full user experience.
Transparency over mystique — We believe skincare should feel informed, clear, and approachable, not confusing or performative.
The Considered Nine
The nine circles in the Formulosophy brand mark honour the nine prototypes that shaped Julia Poto’s diploma work as a cosmetic formulator. Each represents a considered iteration—testing, observing and refining toward a formula in which every element has a purpose.
Their measured variation also reflects the way a thoughtful formula is built: distinct ingredients, functions, and concentrations are carefully assessed and brought into balance until they work as one coherent, synergistic whole.
